I find it quite heartening to see that in the "Your emails" section of your website you feature hostile emails from Turks et al and also an email, allegedly from a Kurd in Turkey (though he calls himself a "Turkish Kurd" which is the same as an orange apple!), that is potentially undermining. It shows a Kurdish willingness to promote free speech.
I have also noticed that, whenever Turks, Iranians or Arabs, need Kurdish help or co-operation, they play the religious card and suddenly become your "Muslim brothers", thus ensuring that the West is the "enemy". Well, whilst I certainly would not like Mr Bush running my country, I don't think the entire West can be condemned as enemies of Islam. Such claims are politically oportunistic and using a great religion in an attempt to con Kurds into an alliance with people who have carried out so many atrocities against the nation of Kurdistan throughout history.
I have loved Turkey on my visits, loved Turkish hospitality, it hurts me to see such a great nation so lost, largely due to its military's imperialistic thinking. The Turkish state is hanging onto the Ottoman ego, just like the English hang onto their idea of being a "big" international player. England and Turkey are insignificant compared to the USA, China and Russia in military terms (it doesn't matter how many people you have in your army) and we must move on to develop our economies for the benefit of our peoples. That does not involve threatening
neighbouring nations with invasions, it involveds co-operating with them as
partners.
The past is the past, now is now. God bless Turkey but also God bless Kurdistan. I want Turkey inside the European Union, I believe the Turkish people would benefit and, at the end of the day, I do not care about governments but I have seen many poor and decent Turkish people who deserve a better life. The same is also true of Kurdish people living in Northern Kurdistan's capital Diyarbakir. As a Christian I see those poor Turks and Kurds as my people. I, a westerner, am not a very threatening enemy am I?
