Wolves are still better off than the Kurds, case III
Kurdishaspect.com - By Hataw Sarkawt
I saw another interesting online petition on wolves. While I admire the passion of animal rights activists, I occasionally criticize them for their misplaced priorities.
Following is the text of one of their recent petitions at:
- ”As one of your constituents, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of “aerial hunting” in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves. I also understand that officials in Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies. …. Aerial hunting is a horrific, unnecessary unsportsmanlike practice that needs to end. Alaskans have twice voted to stop this policy, but the state government continues to allow wolves to be needlessly slaughtered from the skies. Nearly 700 wolves have been killed this way -- and another season has already begun. The PAW Act will put Alaska's savage policy to an end -- and prevent it from spreading to the Greater Yellowstone region. Please sign on to cosponsor this critical legislation today”….
The text is interesting and can be applied to
humans as well. I think paying attention to
animals at a time when humans are suffering
might be indicating ignorance. I do not expect
the animal right activist to ignore animals;
however I expect the Kurdish Americans to
support the people they originated from. If they
can not do much, they can modify the above text
to the following one and send it to their
representative and their president.
- As a Kurdish American, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of aerial bombing in the Middle East , in which state officials are allowing the Turkish military to use aircraft to run down and kill Kurds. I also understand that officials in Syria and Iran are escalating the killing of Kurds by their state agencies. Aerial bombing is a horrific, unnecessary, and an undemocratic practice that needs to end. Citizen of Turkey have often asked to stop this policy, but the state government continues to allow Kurds to be shot from the skies. Nearly 30000 Kurds have been killed, and another season begun recently. Washington can put Turkey ’s savage policy to an end, and prevent it from spreading to the Greater Kurdistan region. Please write a letter to your representatives and to the president of the United States today so the killings of the Kurds can be stopped.
You may send your comment to a Kurdish-English website so someone could collect them and send them to Washington DC .
