Kurdish American Youth Organization sponsors a new Kurdish-American Student Database (KASD) Project
KAYO/KASD Press Release
The Kurdish American Youth Organization (KAYO) is sponsoring a new project to create a large and extensive database of Kurdish students living in the United States. The database project entitled, "Kurdish-American Student Database (KASD)", is the first of it's kind collecting statistics of Kurdish students who completed their studies, current Kurdish students in different fields of studies, as well as prospective Kurdish students in the United States.
The main objective of the project is to create larger and more efficient communication between Kurdish students with goals of allowing the students to help one another in their educational processes, such as application and financial procedures, and to provide assistance to Kurdish students throughout their progress throughout the colleges and universities in the U.S.
Many Kurdish students, particularly U.S. immigrants, are unfamiliar with the variety of benefits the American educational system can provide to them. Through the KASD program, graduated or nearly-graduated students can provide assistance to other Kurdish students who need help in order to ease their educational process. Kurdish students can be partnered with students in fields of studies similar to their own in order help them advance in their studies quicker and more efficiently.
The goal is to encourage Kurdish students to help other students choose colleges and universities that are best for their field of study, apply to colleges and universities, complete college applications, create various documents such as resumes and obtain letters of recommendation, prepare for college interviews, prepare for admission tests and various other items applicable to the educational process. Kurdish students will also be encouraged to help other students apply for financial aid and grants that may have otherwise been difficult for immigrant students to know about.
The KASD project has reached it final stages of development in order to serve the Kurdish Youth in America and will be used only for the purposes of educational assistance and process. All information will be kept in a secured database that will only be accessible to the KASD Management team. Furthermore, no information will be released without prior consent of the individual who has submitted the information to KASD.
The KASD project is a nation-wide effort and will take detailed planning and the will of the Kurdish communities in the United States. For these reasons, the Kurdish-American Student Database Management team and Kurdish American Youth Organization are asking for the assistance of members of the Kurdish communities to make such a project possible and successful.
