Suicide, death by burning and cancer cases in Sulaymaniyah in 2008

(1) PUKmedia, 28-06-08: [Report: 18 persons commit suicide this year]
According to a radio report posted on PUKmedia on 28 June 2008, "From 1 January 2008 to 25 June 2008, 18 persons in the governorate of Sulaymaniyah have committed suicide."
(2) PUKmedia, 28-06-08: [Report: more than 1600 cases of cancer registered in a Sulaymaniyah hospital]
According to another report posted on the same day, Talib Toufiq the director of Hiwa Hospital in Sulaymaniyah has confirmed that ," in the hospitals of Sulaymaniyah alone more than 1600 cases of cancer have been registered." The website explains the reason for this increase in cancer to "the use of chemical weapons by Saddam and consumption of bad and unhealthy food in Kurdistan and Iraq. " It also says that the majority of the cases are citizens who have come for treatment from south of Iraq."
(3) PUKmedia: 06-07-2008 [Report: According to statistics of Directorate of Health, 96 people in Sulaymaniyah died of burning in the last six months."]
"In the last six months a number of citizens within the governorate of Sulaymaniyah have been burnt and some of them have lost their lives. The Directorate of Sulaymaniyah Health has completed a statistical report on cases of burning which shows that in January 2008, 71 males and 51 females were burnt. The number for February is 70 males and 57 females , in March 74 males and 88 females, in April 77 males and 78 females and in May 91 males and 98 females. The statistics of the Directorate shows that the total of 383 males and 372 females , that is 755 citizens in total, were burnt. The statistics of death rate shows that in total 16 males and 77 females died of burning."
The PUKmedia report does not explain why the majority of deaths are among women: 77:16 and whether these women committed suicide by burning themselves which is the likely interpretation.
