Kurdistan Institute for Political Issues Condemn the Ban of DTP (Kurdish Democratic Society Party)

While efforts have been done to reconcile Turkey’s people and the government, the Turkish Constitutional court newly decided to close the DTP party which has 21 members in Turkish parliament.
Although the article 69 of the Turkish constitution gave this authority to the constitutional court, but the decision at this time is been considered as a political decision and considered as cause to re-emerge violence in that country. Certainly, the decision will not benefit the process of democracy and reform, and cause the abortion of Turkey’s membership dream in EU.
We, from KIPI strictly condemn the ban of DTP, and at the same time, we urge EU to put more pressure on Turkey so as to speed up the process of reform, and the amendments of Turkey’s constitution, in which the law of political activities would be formed on the basis of free and democratic principles, in a way that the ban of DTP will be negated and the political participation will be broadened in the country.
We urge Turkey’s Kurds to be endurable and to continue on their peaceful political struggle to achieve democracy and their fair right in Turkey. Meanwhile, we call on Turkish government to speed up its efforts for the amendments of constitution and to continue on the process of finding democratic and peaceful solution to Kurdish issue in the country.
Not for the constriction of political activities and incitement of violence
